SOURCES & REVIEW
Know what a recommendation rests on.
Care values, editorial choices and calculator results are different kinds of information. We make their assumptions visible so you can judge how much weight to give them.
Current review status
Data 0.3.0 · Rules 0.1.2. Care values and original community selections await expert review. Automated validation checks structure and consistency; it does not establish veterinary or husbandry authority.
Care values keep their provenance
Dataset values carry a source and confidence level, with a review date where one is recorded. A published care guide links its reading sources. Conflicting ranges should be read in context: wild habitat, captive strains and local breeding conditions can differ.
Original guidance is labelled honestly
Community choices and companion-selection advice authored from general husbandry knowledge use “curated-v0 (needs expert review)” with medium confidence, or low confidence when uncertain. We do not attribute those choices to an expert or imply that a linked care source has endorsed a whole community.
Worked examples use the real engine
Complete community cards use the same space, water, behaviour, schooling and bioload checks as the planner. The build rejects a published community card if a data or rules change introduces a blocker or warning. Companion comparisons may deliberately show a risky pairing; those warnings remain visible.
The model only evaluates the animals and equipment entered. It does not forecast breeding, maturation of a biological filter, disease or every individual’s behaviour. “No warnings” means no current model warning for those inputs.
How to assess a plan yourself
- Match the example’s dimensions to your aquarium, not just the capacity label.
- Read the care pages and check adult size, group requirements and the shared water range.
- Test your water and confirm the system is cycled before introducing livestock.
- Recheck the entire plan when fish counts, equipment or layout change.
Corrections
A useful correction identifies the page or species, the field in question, the proposed value and a source that can be checked. Include the plan link when the issue concerns a calculator result.
A public correction contact has not been configured for this build. Until it is available, compare the cited source directly and treat uncertain values cautiously.
